GTA 6 Radio Stations and Soundtrack — What We Know
Music has always been central to Grand Theft Auto. Here is what the trailers reveal about GTA 6 radio, and what a modern Vice City soundtrack is likely to hold.
Music is not decoration in Grand Theft Auto. The 2002 Vice City soundtrack is, for a lot of people, the most memorable thing about that game. Here is what can be said about GTA VI's.
What is confirmed
Almost nothing. Rockstar typically announces station lineups and licensed tracks very close to launch, sometimes in the final weeks, because music licensing is negotiated late and changes until it is locked.
What the trailers establish is tone rather than tracklist: the second trailer's music choices lean contemporary rather than retro, which is consistent with the game's modern-day setting.
Why a modern setting changes things
The 2002 game was a 1986 period piece. Its soundtrack was a curated historical selection — the hits of a specific moment, which is what made it so coherent.
GTA VI is contemporary, which means the soundtrack has to do something harder: represent a living, fragmented musical present rather than a settled past. Expect breadth over nostalgia.
Florida also has a genuinely distinctive musical identity — Miami bass, Latin and Caribbean influence, the state's hip-hop scenes — that a well-researched soundtrack would draw on heavily. That would be the regionally authentic choice, and Rockstar has historically done this kind of research well.
How many stations?
GTA V shipped with roughly seventeen radio stations at launch and added more over time. A similar count is a reasonable expectation, though Rockstar has confirmed nothing.
What is near-certain, based on every previous entry:
The licensing problem nobody mentions
Worth knowing if you plan to keep the game for years: licensed music expires.
GTA V has lost tracks over time as licences lapsed, and players who bought the game at launch no longer have the exact soundtrack they started with. The same will happen to GTA VI. It is not a bug and not something Rockstar can fully prevent.
This also affects streaming. Some stations are muted in content-creator modes to avoid copyright claims.
Our radio page
We track station names and details as they are confirmed, with clear labelling about what is official versus community speculation. Several station names circulating now are fan inventions. We will fill the page out properly when Rockstar publishes the real lineup, which historically happens in the final weeks before launch.
