Is GTA 6 Coming to Game Pass or PS Plus? The Realistic Answer

A straight answer to a very common question, why subscription day-one is extremely unlikely for this specific game, and when it might eventually appear.

Short answer: GTA VI will almost certainly not be on Game Pass or PS Plus at launch, and you should plan to buy it.

Here is why that is a confident statement rather than a guess.

The business reality

Subscription services pay publishers for inclusion. That payment has to compensate for lost sales. For most games that maths works, because most games sell modestly and a guaranteed cheque plus exposure beats uncertain sales.

GTA VI is the opposite case. It is widely expected to be the fastest-selling entertainment product ever released. GTA V has sold north of 200 million copies. No subscription service can write a cheque large enough to beat selling tens of millions of copies at full price in the opening weeks.

Put simply: there is no plausible number Microsoft or Sony could offer Take-Two that makes day-one subscription inclusion rational.

Does Microsoft owning studios change this?

Microsoft owns Activision Blizzard, which is why Call of Duty now appears on Game Pass day one. People reasonably ask whether something similar could apply here.

It cannot. Take-Two Interactive is an independent publicly traded company. Rockstar is its subsidiary. Microsoft does not own it and cannot place GTA VI on Game Pass unilaterally. Take-Two has given no indication of wanting to sell, and its market position is strong.

Will it arrive eventually?

Possibly, years later — and there is precedent.

GTA V has appeared on both Game Pass and PS Plus at various points, but only long after launch, once full-price sales had slowed. If GTA VI follows the same path, a subscription appearance somewhere in the 2029 to 2031 window would not be surprising.

That is a long wait for a game you want to play now.

What subscriptions might actually get you

A few realistic possibilities short of full inclusion:

  • **Trial access.** Some services offer limited-time trials of major third-party titles.
  • **GTA Online perks.** If an online component launches, subscription tiers sometimes carry in-game bonuses.
  • **Discount offers.** Subscribers occasionally receive storefront discounts, though rarely on brand-new flagship releases.

  • The practical advice

Budget for buying it. If the price is the concern, the standard edition is the sensible choice — the premium tiers add in-game currency and cosmetics, not content.

If you genuinely cannot buy at launch, nothing is lost by waiting. Single-player games do not expire, and the first major price drop on Rockstar titles has historically come within the first year.
